Ladies Earn Ksh 400K From Sonko After Showering Him With Praises

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has promised to donate Ksh 400,000 to a group of ladies who filmed themselves showering him with praises and highlighted some of their projects which required his intervention.

The group called Dagoretti North Divas complimented Sonko for being in touch with Nairobi residents and going the extra mile to constantly inspect development projects.

"You have helped many people because you have a good heart. You have visited almost every constituency and we also want a share of the development. We are a registered self-help group and we ask you to support us. We have two projects that require your assistance," their spokesperson stated in the video.

The first project which they needed help with, was to establish a salon since many of them were trained in hairdressing and cosmetics.

They also wanted Sonko to assist them in buying tents and chairs which they planned to hire out to make revenue. They promised to brand the items with the words "Wasupa na Sonko".

The governor, through a Facebook post, agreed to both proposals, inviting them to a meeting in his office to discuss the salon project and collect Ksh 400,000.

The ladies group also mentioned Governor Sonko's political ambitions, urging him to one day contest for the presidency.

"Ukienda huko State House one day utatupea projects (If you make it to State House one day you'll give us projects to do)," they stated in unison.

On Sunday, Sonko surprised his West Pokot compatriot Governor John Lonyangapuo with Ksh 100,000 at a church fundraiser in the Western region county.

Sonko, who was scheduled to attend the fundraiser, had sent an emissary to deliver the money as well as convey his apologies for missing the event.
