American International coffee retailer Starbucks, has refuted claims that it will be opening its first shop in Kenya along Nairobi's Mama Ngina Street.
Replying to media personality Larry Madowo, via email, the company stated that they had no plans of opening a branch in Nairobi.
"I can confirm these reports are not accurate; we currently have no plans to open in Nairobi," part of the email read.
Star bucks, however, has not released an official statement regarding the same.
Early Monday morning reports circulating on social media indicated that the company would be opening one of their branches in Nairobi.
In 2016, the US-based company opened a branch in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the CEO at Taste Holdings Carlo Gonzaga stating that the time was right.
"We are going to offer coffee lovers a special experience," he stated.
Starbucks would have been in competition with popular coffee houses like Artcaffé, Java House, Kaldis coffee house among others, if the reports were to be true.
