Ruto Begs Governors Over Money [VIDEO]

Deputy President William Ruto, on Saturday, pleaded with governors not to sue the government in the disagreements on the division of revenue.

While speaking during the commissioning of Tharaka Technical Training College in Marimanti, Tharaka, Tharaka Nithi County, the DP stated that all parties should sit down and talk over the matter.

"Next week we will publish the division of revenue bill to ensure that the money that will be allocated to counties is what we can get from the collections.

"We can't send money that we don't have and we must all appreciate that we can share that which we have," he stated.

He went on to explain that the government should not be put in a position where it has to borrow money to send to counties.

According to the DP, the only people who would benefit from the suits are lawyers who will handle the case.

"I don't think it's necessary for us to take drastic steps. Like going to court and other things. I want to beg county governments for us to talk.

"I would like us to walk on this road together. If you take us to court, the only people who will make money out of this are the lawyers. You don't have to look for lawyers," he added.

A report by Nation indicated that the county bosses were planning to stage a protest at the National Assembly on why MPs were opposed to releasing of funds to the devolved units.
