Duale Issues 4 Tough Demands to Daily Nation Over Corruption Story

On Thursday, National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, through his lawyers, sent a detailed letter to the Nation Media Group Limited, with four tough demands over a cover story they printed on the very same day.

In the letter, the legislator threatened to proceed with a legal suit in case of Nation’s failure to comply with his demands within seven days.

On Wednesday, he had accused them of extorting him for that cover story prior to its publishing.

In the letter seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Duale demanded that the media house tenders its apology to him within a week.

He further urged that the apology must be accompanied by full admission, opening the way for discussion on how they will pay Duale for damages.

The lawyers also highlighted that Duale wanted Nation to pull down all offending posts on social media and that they should also apologise to him on all their social media handles.

Nation then had to commit themselves to avoid repeating the said allegations concerning him via any platform.

In its Thursday edition, the paper reported that after a thorough investigation, they found out that a firm, which was associated with the MP, had received tenders valued at Ksh2.6 billion over a period of 10 years.

In their report, Daily Nation acknowledged that Duale furnished them with details of his namesake, who was reportedly at the helm of the firm in question but could not ascertain their signatures.

On Thursday, after the legislator confirmed that the story ran, he told Kenyans.co.ke that he was in talks with his lawyer to file a lawsuit against the media house and that the said firm was also preparing to sue too.

"I am with my lawyer and I'm going to sue today (Thursday). That company is also going to sue today (Thursday)," he remarked.
