DP Ruto’s New Way of Dealing With Raila

On Saturday, Deputy President, William Ruto stated that he is open to working with Raila Odinga towards the transformation of Kenya.

The DP was speaking at Mumbuni, Machakos County after attending an event at the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Katisaa

Ruto asserted that it was imperative to honour President Uhuru Kenyatta’s wish of seeing leaders work together in unity and harmony.

The president declared that we should work together with all leaders. Even those we challenged and defeated in 2017. Today we are united in ensuring we do not drag Kenya’s development. Transformation cannot wait for those who are politically quarrelling.

We must harmonise our politics so that we can create synergy and drive the transformation of Kenyans together as the people of this nation,” Ruto declared.

According to the DP, developments were still a point of focus in driving Kenya forward.

Developments will spearhead the change Kenya needs and that depends on leaders uniting with citizens to work together,” Ruto stated.

Ruto has been at loggerheads with Raila since the famous Handshake between the ODM leader and President Kenyatta.

The DP has on numerous times declined to honour the president's call to thwart early campaigns.

Ruto's new pledge comes at a time when the Jubilee Government is said to be divided, with Uhuru elevating Interior CS, Fred Matiang'i, to chair cabinet meetings.

The move was also allegedly advised by the fact that the cabinet was getting divided, over the allegations that some cabinet secretaries were holding meetings to plan the assassination of DP Ruto.

Calls for a referendum have also divided various leaders, as section of leaders allied to Uhuru and Raila rally for it while those allied to Ruto staunchly reject it.
