Raila, Passaris Bag International Awards

AU Envoy, Raila Odinga and Nairobi Woman Representative, Esther Passaris, on Monday, scooped international awards.

The two who were nominated for The Voice Achievers Award, are set to receive the award on August 16 at the Louis Leakey Auditorium, National Museum in Nairobi.

The Award is one of the biggest African social events in Central Europe, dedicated to appreciating dedication and contribution of daughters, sons, and friends of Africa who, through their activities, have impacted positively on the lives of Africans.

The Nairobi Woman representative is set to receive the African Community Figure Award.

The award is on its 10th anniversary and will be hosted in the African continent, in Nairobi, Kenya, for the first time. 

The awardees were chosen from a pool of well-qualified individuals, companies and organisations contributing to the advancement of Africa.

Other Kenyan awardees included Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade,  Ababu Namwamba, for the 'African Inspirational Leadership Award', BBC journalist, Anne Ngugi's daughter, Angel Ngugi, for the 'Against All Odds Award.' and James Mureu, the chairman of America-Africa Trade Investment Chairman, who will be awarded for the 'African Business Excellence Award.'

Anne who previously spoke to The Star, disclosed that she was contacted by the organisers in March, through social media, and couldn't be prouder of her daughter.

"I did not expect it but I thank God for this opportunity for my daughter because it shows there are even bigger opportunities coming along her way," she remarked.

Candidates were drawn from various countries in Africa and from around the world. The final list included noblemen, women and young promising personalities who cherish a better future of Africa.
