Sonko Forced to Act After Senator Omanga's Phonecall

Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, was forced into action after a phone call from Nominated Senator, Millicent Omanga.

Omanga, who was accompanied by Starehe MP, Charles 'Jaguar' Njagua, had met a section of Gikomba traders, who raised issues over the situation with the street lighting and sewer lines in the area.

She then decided to call the governor and put him on speaker over the complaints.

The senator was quick to applaud the county head, over his quick response when he was requested to act on the dire situation.

Thank you governor Sonko for the quick response,” Omanga wrote on her Facebook page.

She then went further to reveal details of the phone call that she had with the governor, that salvaged the situation for the traders.

I want to thank Nairobi Governor H.E Mike Sonko for the swift action after a brief engagement with Gikomba leaders through a phone call (loudspeaker) and immediately sending your team to fix the street lights and sewerage systems,” Omanga divulged.

Earlier in July 2019, Sonko posted his personal numbers on Facebook, to be used by constituents with any issues that warranted his attention.

The Nairobi County Communications Director, Jacob Elkanah, affirmed that the two contacts were indeed the governor's personal numbers.

"Ukiona sub-county na ward admin (If you see that the sub-county and the ward administrator) in your area sleeping on their job by allowing uncollected garbage to pile up, just call, text or send WhatsApp messages to 0739555555 or 0722886600 for necessary action," read an excerpt of the governor's post.
