New Govt CEO Orders Her Predecessor to Vacate House

Former Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Director General Francis Wangusi has been ordered to vacate the government house he still occupies.

In a memo authored by acting Director-General, Mercy Wanjau, Wangusi was given 30 days to vacate the institutional house. that he has so far stubbornly refused to leave, after his term lapsed on August 23.

Wangusi had vowed not to hand over to the new boss who was appointed on Thursday, August 22, in an acting capacity.

He insisted that the current CA board was not lawfully constituted and therefore could not appoint his replacement.

Wangusi has served in various capacities at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) in a career spanning 20 years.

He joined the Authority in 2000 as an assistant director and rose through the ranks to his current contested position.

He once served as the director in charge of broadcasting and special projects as well as the director in charge of licensing, compliance, and standards. 

Ms. Wanjau had joined as an assistant director, overseeing regulatory affairs and governance at the ICT sector regulator.

Her role entailed providing advisory support in legal and regulatory aspects, public policy analysis and legislative development.

She is a holder of an LLB (Hons.) and LLM ( Corporate Law and Taxation) and also an Eisenhower Fellow and a published author with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
