Digital Innovations Diaspora Communications Secretary, Dennis Itumbi, dared the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to show their wrath and narrow down on authors of a purported fake letter, insisting that if it was him, they would have swiftly swung into action.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Tuesday, August 27, the strategist, rallied the George Kinoti-led team to investigate two separate fake letters which mention Interpol and Nairobi County's Mike Sonko in two different incidences.
"I said I just made a fake letter in a sarcastic way so as to tell the DCI that they should investigate the authors of the letters. I am not the author of these two letters," Itumbi clarified while speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone
"DCI, you interested in calling FBI to trace where this one came from? Or it first needs to go to TangaTanga WhatsApp group for you to investigate?
"Before this Interpol one, there was another dismissed by my friend Governor Mike Sonko. I am waiting," Itumbi asked DCI to act through his Twitter post.
The first fake letter alleged that Interpol wrote to Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, informing him that notable politicians including Nakuru Senator, Susan Kihika, former Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, and other KRA officials were wanted in relation to confessions made the Akasha brothers.
The second fake letter implied that Sonko had come up with measures to protect Nairobi County leadership from bullies.
Kabogo took to his Facebook page to blast authors of the letter.
However other Kenyans misinterpreted Itumbi's plea and swiftly rushed to tear into the blogger, blasting him for tainting the image of respectable people. Others unleashed wrath on his strategies.
On July 3, Itumbi was arrested by DCI officers over a fake letter about an alleged plot to assassinate DP Ruto.
The digital strategist was reportedly picked up by Flying Squad officers at City Hall and bundled into a vehicle belonging to the DCI.
He was later released and the matter is still in court.
