EXCLUSIVE: Waititu Turns to God Amid Political Tribulation

Embattled Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu, revealed that he has turned towards God amid the political tribulations tormenting him.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, Waititu revealed that he is seeking the Lord's intervention as he faces the various court battles against him.

"I decided to be quiet and listen to people talking and planning. All I am doing right now is praying that God fights my battles.

"I go to church and I also seek his grace and favours when I am alone," a humbled Waititu disclosed.

The Governor, who was barred from operating within his Kiambu offices over graft charges further stated that he had taken a step back from politics.

"I do not have anything to say or comment on the current political events," Waititu declared.

In August, Waititu moved to the Court of Appeal to contest the decision to bar him from the county offices.

Waititu also challenged the amount of money he was asked to part with to secure his freedom. He protested that a Ksh15 million cash bail or Ksh30 million bond was too much for the offence he was charged with.

The governor wanted the appellate court to reduce the cash bail to Ksh2 million or grant a bond of Ksh5 million.

In the same month, Waititu circumvented Justice Lawrence Mugambi's orders barring him from office, by declaring that he would continue running the county from a different location.

His deputy, James Nyoro, is temporarily in charge of Kiambu

Waititu has a case pending in court over embezzlement of Ksh588 million.
