The Orange Democratic Party made a special dispensation on Sunday, September 8, by allowing its offices to remain open to handle complaints and petitions against Bernard 'Imran' Okoth's victory.
The brother to the late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth on Saturday, trounced nine other aspirants to clinch to place himself as the front runner in the upcoming Kibra mini poll.
"Aspirants with any complaints as a result of the exercise are invited to present them to Orange House which is open today for the same purpose," read an excerpt of the party's official statement.
Most reports had praised the nomination process, with the majority within the party agreeing that the results represented the opinion of the majority of Kibra people.
"Hon Bernard Okoth (Imran) who is a brother to the late former Kibra MP Ken Okoth has been declared the winner of the competitive ODM nomination exercise held on Saturday 7th September 2019. He will fly the party flag in the Kibra by-election slated for November 7th 2019. Congratulations Imran," read ODM's official statement following Imran's win.
K24 TV had earlier reported that ODM's Kibra organising secretary, Sigar Agumba, had left the party, claiming that the official opposition party did not support the party home-grown leaders.
Kibra residents had on August 25, 2019, heckled the newly announced ODM party candidate off the stage during a rally at Kamukunji grounds.
Reports claimed that the very people who held his brother close to their hearts, turned hostile because Imran oversaw the cremation of the late MP.
Barring any surprise move, Imran is set to square up against McDonald Mariga of Jubilee Party, former ODM strategist Eliud Owalo fielded by Musalia Mudavadi's ANC, Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya) and Ukweli Party's Editar Ochieng.
