MPs Bet Millions on Mariga & Okoth Ahead of Kibra By-election

Two Members of Parliament placed bets on their favourite candidates to win in the upcoming Kibra by-elections that would be held on November 7.

Siria MP John Waluke and his Homa Bay counterpart Peter Kaluma placed a bet of Ksh1 million each, on their preferred candidates.

"I have placed a bet with Kaluma on who is going to win the elections," Waluke spoke to Kenyans.co.ke on Wednesday, October 16.

He went ahead to reveal that he was confident Jubilee Party would upset ODM in the upcoming polls with McDonald Mariga emerging the victor.

"It is a sure bet for me, and I am confident that come November 10 when the results are out we will be celebrating Mariga's win," Waluke added.

The Sirisia MP also affirmed that despite popular opinion that Kibra was an ODM zone, he was confident that there would be a major shakeup.

"I promise you, they will be crying when the results come out," Waluke affirmed as he voiced his support for Jubilee's Mariga.

When reached for comment, Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma who was in support of ODM's Imran Okoth did not respond to our call.

The Kibra by-election has been a game of might with Jubilee and ODM going head to head in campaigns that have been conducted in the area.

Imran Okoth, backed by ODM leader Raila Odinga has enjoyed massive support as Kibra was mentioned as an opposition zone.

Deputy President William Ruto, however, continued to show his might by parading Mariga and supporting him as the ruling party's candidate.

The seat fell vacant when former area MP Kenneth Okoth died on June 26, 2019.
