Uhuru's Sister Wows Crowd With His Unknown Childhood Story

Uhuru's Kenyatta older sister Christine Wambui Kenyatta shared previously unknown details concerning her relationship growing up alongside the young President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Nairobian reported on Friday, October 25, that Wambui narrated the tale of the two growing up together when she attended the burial of Felistas Nyakiamo, the wife of former Cabinet Minister Peter Nyakiamo.

The Standard Group publication reported that when she got to the funeral, not many could identify her until she introduced herself as Uhuru's sister.

President Uhuru Kenyatta's older sister Kristina Pratt addressing the press in September 2018. She told mourners at a funeral in Suba constituency that she used to carry Uhuru on her back when he was young.

"The president is my younger brother, and I used to take care of him. Furthermore, I carried him on my back during that time," she stated, much to the amusement of the crowd.

She narrated that it was the respect between them that had carried on since childhood that had compelled the president to send her to personally offer the first family's condolences to the Nyakiamo family.

"On behalf of Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Margaret Kenyatta, and the entire Jomo Kenyatta family, I eulogize Felistas as a lady who took care of her family effectively when her husband was in politics. She was a role model to all the women in the country," stated a section of President Kenyatta's speech that Wambui read.

The publication further reported that before she left the venue of the funeral at the Makende Village in Suba South Constituency, she regretted the state of the roads, which reported not to have been carpeted since independence.

"This is not the first time my vehicle has been stuck on roads in this constituency. I will take the residents' plight to the president for something to be done," she promised.

When Christine Wambui married Victor Pratt, she changed her name to Kristina Pratt.

She is the first child of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Mama Ngina Kenyatta, born in 1953 followed by Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta in 1961, Anna Nyokabi Muthama Kenyatta 1963, and finally Muhoho Kenyatta in 1965.

Wambui was appointed the chairperson of the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK) on January 8, 2002, by retired President Daniel arap Moi, a position she holds to date.

According to the Daily Nation in an article published on Jan 12, 2002, the replacement of Eliud Mahihu who had served in the role for "close to 15 years" was described by analysts as "inexplicable".
