Driver Flees After Ramming Bus Full of Passengers Into Trailer

A bus driver fled the scene of a grisly road accident on Sunday, November 10, in Salama town along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

One woman died on the spot, while 32 passengers were rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for emergency treatment, Citizen Digital reported.

Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan confirmed the tragic incident, going on to declare that the search was on for the errant driver.

The police boss went on to reveal that the bus was heading to Nairobi from Mombasa.

Initial reports claimed that the accident happened as the driver attempted to overtake a convoy of vehicles when it rammed head-on into the oncoming trailer.

The tragic accident comes barely a week since a three-car accident at the Marula black spot on Naivasha-Nakuru highway claimed 5 innocent lives.

Naivasha Deputy Police Commander John Kwasa  confirmed the incident adding that the accident occurred after the driver of the saloon car tried to overtake the trailer.

The five were reportedly heading to Karagita from Nakuru for the burial of a family member.
