Harambee Starlets on Monday, November 25, made history after emerging the Cecafa champions for the first time ever. The team achieved the feat after beating their rivals Tanzania 2-0 during the final.
The win is largely attributed to super-sub Jentrix Shikangwa who joined the game from the bench to open the scoring from the spot in the 70th minute.
Starlets completed the championships without conceding a single goal.

Various leaders took to social media to congratulate the team for the historic win.
"Congratulations Harambee Starlets for the magnificent performance in the CECAFA championship. You have brought glory to the nation and we are proud of you. To us, you stand tall as legends, and to the continent, you are definitely champions," congratulated Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
"Congratulations to Harambee Starlets who have won the CECAFA Women's Championship after beating Tanzania 2-0 in today's final. Well done ladies. You are one more reason why I am proud to be a Kenyan," stated Senator Cleophas Malala.
The win came shortly after the team got nominated for the women's national team by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).
It was the second time the team received the nomination in three years.
