Why I Prefer Ruto to Raila for 2022 Presidential Election - David Ndii

Economist David Ndii on Thursday, November 28, explained why Deputy President William Ruto would be his preferred presidential candidate if put up against ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 General Election.

The economist was replying to a Twitter user who questioned why he appeared sympathetic to the DP while bashing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake counterpart Odinga.

Vincent Mwanzo highlighted that both Ruto and Kenyatta kept Raila from the presidency, adding, "I'm shocked you are supporting him (Ruto) currently."

In his explanation, Ndii claimed that the ODM leader traded people’s quest for electoral justice for a personal, secret deal with the head of state.

He went ahead and warned his followers against supporting a leader from Kenya's political families.

"Let me be clear. The imperative for progressive forces is to send both Ruto and the dynasties home.

"But if God forbid we must suffer one evil, let us suffer Ruto. Him, we have a fighting chance. If we don’t uproot the dynasties in 2022, they will enslave up to our grandchildren," he remarked.

This is not the first time the economist is making these sentiments.

On October 16, 2019, Ndii lamented over the rampant corruption that had characterized the Jubilee Party's twin terms in power.

He claimed that Ruto was a better candidate the than "selfish families which despise us, and expect to be treated like royalty."
