Magistrate Releases Suspect After Admitting The Crime was His Dream

A suspect was on Tuesday, December 17, freed despite pleading guilty after a Nairobi magistrate observed that the crime was his dream.

According to a report by K24 Digital, Michael Masinga Ambatsa, a hawker in Nairobi, was accused of ordering food worth Ksh1,310 at a Java outlet in Nairobi and failed to settle the bill.

Appearing before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the suspect admitted to committing the offence which he would later confess was something he had yearned for.

Ambatsa reportedly ordered a serving of Chicken and Chips and downed the meal with a litre of juice.

While delivering the ruling, the magistrate left the court in stitches when he stated that the suspect had vowed that he must eat at the popular restaurant before he died.

“Ambatsa, yaani uliamua lazima ukule Java kabla ufe? (Ambatsa, you mean you had vowed to have a meal at Java before die?),” remarked Andayi.

Ambatsa answered in the affirmative to the magistrate's hilarious question, while regretted the decision he described as a dumb.

“I admit that I made a stupid mistake ordering a meal and drink that I wasn’t in a position to pay for,” the suspect disclosed.

As a result of his honesty, the magistrate freed the suspect but warned him not to repeat the mistake.

Ambatsa committed the offence on Monday, December 16, 2019.
