Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Monday, December 23, responded to Deputy President William Ruto's mockery that his assassination claims had not basis.
Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, the governor disclosed that the DP's statement referencing ICC proved that he thinks about crimes against humanity.
He further detailed that the statement from Ruto supported his claims that the DP did not object to the State House meeting taking place.
"He actually admitted that the event took place at State House. So he is admitting that he threatened me. For him, that is a clear admission that what I talked about was true.
"Number two, It is also quite interesting that he has talked about The Hague. For me, somebody who talks about The Hague is somebody who is thinking about crime against humanity. Why is he thinking about The Hague unless in his mind, he is obsessed with crimes against humanity," he stated.
Speaking in Budalangi, Busia County on Sunday, December 22, where he attended the Isambo Beach Carnival, DP Ruto told the crowd that he was in awe of a handshake from one of the locals.
The grip from the handshake, the deputy president stated, was like one Mutua had complained was extended to him.
"I have shaken hands with a certain man who was rowing the boast, he gripped my hand and it reminded me of my handshake with Mutua.
"Do you remember that man? He complained that I greeted him and squeezed his hands. He went to the DCI and accused me of squeezing his hand. Tell me, had he shaken hands with the man who was rowing the boat, wouldn't he have taken the case to the Hague?" quipped the DP.
Mutua further revealed that he would remind the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to hasten the matter and open a case.
"I am going to remind the DCI that they have a job to do. They need to summon him and once the file goes to the DPP, it is a criminal offence and let the law take its cause," continued Mutua.
