The public display of affection by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to his wife, Primrose Mbuvi on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, has attracted the attention of Kenyans on social media.
Through photos posted by Primrose on her Instagram account, the two were seen sharing intimate moments in a party organised by Sonko to celebrate his wife’s birthday at Kikambala, Kilifi County.
The creme of the day’s event happened when Sonko publicly kissed his wife, which drew the attention of netizens.
In a series of posts by the Nairobi county first lady, the couple cut the cake before the wow moment that was snapped in absolute pomp and colour.
Social media users joined in congratulating the two, wishing the first lady a happy birthday.
Friespete wrote, "Happy birthday. May the Lord's spirit keep guiding you and your family. God bless you and protect you and your family, " Anne Wanjiru wished.
According to The Standard, Governor Sonko is not shy when it comes to spending on his wife and in 2019, a video emerged of him buying Primerose a Versace chain worth Ksh4.3 million.
In the viral video, Sonko was seen walking into a jewellery shop and asking for the expensive gold chain decorated with diamonds.
"I want bigger chains with diamonds, am sending the pictures to my wife to choose, am a fan of gold and Versace," Sonko was heard ordering.
“The pendant is 98,200 Dirham and the chain 56, 000. The total would be 154, 200 Dirham,” said the store attendant.
In current rates, 154, 200 UAE Dirham equals about Ksh4.3 million
He then pulled out new dollar notes and paid in cash while the storekeepers watched in disbelief.
