Uhuru is Blameless for Miguna's Troubles- Murkomen

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, on Wednesday, January 8, passionately defended President Uhuru Kenyatta over the ongoing saga surrounding Miguna Miguna's attempt to return to Kenya.

Taking to Twitter, the lawmaker claimed that a section of government officials was out to soil Uhuru's reputation by repeatedly frustrating the embattled lawyer's efforts.

The Elgeyo Marakwet senator further made it clear that the president was fine with Miguna's return.

"As far as I am concerned, President Kenyatta gave orders which he restated publicly that Miguna Miguna, his views notwithstanding, is welcome back home. Those frustrating Miguna are outrightly sabotaging the head of state, embarrassing his administration and denting his legacy," shared Murkomen.

He further urged the courts to issue warrants of arrest and jail government officials behind Miguna's troubles, admitting that his office would wish to help Miguna but it was not mandated to.

"If my office was required to do anything for Miguna or any other citizen, I would have done it. I have given my counsel. The courts should jail government officials who are in contempt of court orders.

"There is no collective responsibility for violating the constitution," he continued.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome also pointed out that the exiled lawyer was being treated unfairly and called on Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to intervene.

"CS Matiang’i, don’t tell stories through Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna. Bring Miguna Miguna home. Don’t expose your inefficiency or worse still tyranny," she stated.

Miguna, who was initially scheduled to land at JKIA on Tuesday, January 7 at 9.25 pm, has suffered a series of frustrations which he claimed were caused by the government.

The latest blow was on the night of Tuesday, January 7, when he was forced to disembark from an Air France flight destined for Nairobi.

Miguna had earlier suffered another aborted return via Lufthansa flight LH590.
