Pope Seeks Special Favour From Teacher Tabichi

The worlds' best teacher in 2019, Peter Tabichi, was handed a special task by Pope Francis following a one on one meeting at the Pope's private residence in Santra Marta, Rome.

Speaking on Wednesday, January 8, the global teacher prize winner shared photos of their meeting, going on to reveal that the Supreme Pontiff had tasked him with a special mission.

"I was inspired by the great humility of the Pope during the meeting at Santa Marta in Rome he told me: 'Pray for me, brother!'" he disclosed.

The celebrated teacher couldn't hide his joy as he visited with his spiritual leader.

"May the new year be filled with new hope, new joy, and new beginnings," he posted on Twitter.

The math and science teacher at Keriko Mixed secondary school is a devout Franciscan - an order which is one of the four great mendicant orders of the catholic church, whose members strive to cultivate the ideals of poverty and charity.

Tabichi grabbed global headlines when he clinched the Global Teacher Prize on March 24, 2019, which came with a Ksh100 million cash bounty.
