Raila Jnr Blasts Murkomen & Kuria, Accuses Them of Hypocrisy

AU envoy, Raila Odinga's, son Raila Junior faced off with Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria alleging that they were hypocritical in their statements over Miguna Miguna's, homecoming hurdles.

On Thursday, January 9, Raila Junior urged the two leaders to chose a side after they reportedly celebrated Miguna's deportation in 2018, only to change tune and defend him in January 2020.

Through Twitter, he posted the remarks of the leaders in conjunction with Miguna's escalated woes.

"Kuria and Murkomen at least be consistent, your false awakening is apparent to all," Raila Junior wrote.

In 2018, Kuria had trolled Miguna, dubbing Miguna's deportation as a 4-day State Visit to Kenya. In 2020, he went on to lament that Miguna's tribulations were orchestrated by Raila Odinga.

"When President was talking of allowing Miguna during the burial of (late and former mayor Charles Rubia), he meant every word of it, but I have information that the person who is behind Miguna's tribulations is Raila Odinga," Kuria proclaimed at a press conference at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, on Wednesday, January 8.

In 2018, in an interview with KTN News anchor, Sophia Wanuna, Murkomen had opined that it was harder to subject to the right of one individual at the cost of 45 million people when the right of the individual threatened the rights of the majority.

In 2020, he urged the courts to issue warrants of arrest and jail government officials behind Miguna's troubles, admitting that his office would wish to help Miguna but it was not mandated to.

Upon being subjected to criticism, Murkomen responded, claiming that the change of tune was in line with the handshake spirit.

"Hypocrites are those who apologised after the handshake and now pursue personal interests at the expense of those who suffered on their behalf. Those of us who embrace the handshake with our actions and believe that we need a new Kenya signified by dignified return of Miguna Miguna are not hypocrites," Murkomen argued via a tweet on Thursday, January 9.
