Khalwale Picks Fresh Fight With Raila After Cancellation of BBI Event

Former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, blatantly warned Orange Democratic Movement leader, Raila Odinga to desist from purporting to be speaking on behalf of the Luhya community.

On Thursday, January 16, in a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Khalwale further defied an order issued by the National Police Service under Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai, when he affirmed that the cancelled parallel rally to BBI's Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega meeting would go on unopposed. Both meetings are scheduled for Saturday, January 18.

Khalwale further mobilised local leaders who would attend the parallel meeting scheduled for Mumias, Kakamega county, affirming that it would go on unopposed, despite police banning it.

"I held a meeting with leaders of Trans Nzoia, Bungoma and Kakamega Counties. Today (Thursday, January 16) I am in Vihiga County for mobilisation. I want to tell Raila Odinga, my neighbour, achunge line (let him watch his space), he cannot call for a parallel meeting in Kakamega purporting to lead the people of the Luhya nation

"The problem we have with the Bukhungu rally under Odinga is that President Uhuru Kenyatta launched a beautiful baby and it was a proud moment for everyone, even those who are in Tanga Tanga like us with his deputy William Ruto and all other Kenyans. Odinga wants to mutate the baby so that it becomes a monster dividing Kenyans," Khalwale argued.

He also alleged that the intention of Odinga's rallies is to ensure BBI deviates from what was created in Bomas to change the dwindling fortunes of the AU envoy, whose journey to 'Cannan' was futile.

"The meeting at Nabongo Grounds in Mumias will go on. We are confirming that Amani National Congress leader, Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula will attend.

"This is serious business and we do not require the permission of any party leader," Khalwale declared.

On Wednesday, January 15, police cancelled two permits it had issued earlier for the Mumias meeting, a move that irked DP Ruto's team as digital strategist Dennis Itumbi accused senior Harambee House officials of plotting the move.

Police nullified the Mumias meeting citing security reasons.
