CCTV footage capturing the horrific crash emerged on Monday, February 17 (See end of story).
A man was confirmed dead as a Mercedes Benz E350 veered off Nairobi's Lang'ata Road before bursting into flames on Sunday, February 16.
Lang'ata police chief John Sichei confirmed the death of the motorist.
The vehicle flew into a fence lined with trees at Wilson Airport before smoke started billowing.
Terrified residents were the first to respond with police officers arriving moments later.
The accident took place at around 7:48 a.m. with the car's registration number confirmed as KCX 734B.
Witnesses claimed that the driver was moving at a high speed and lost control as he approached Sunshine High School.
It was further alleged that the driver had come from a night out and was drunk.
He had been spotted driving out of the Weston Hotel before the grisly crash.
Fire was spotted coming out of the front part of the car moments after he rammed into the airport fence.
Following the crash, a tow truck soon arrived on the scene to cart away the wrecked vehicle. The driver's body was taken by police to City Mortuary.
Onlookers had surrounded the scene with police later intervening to disperse them.
Photos from the scene painted a shocking picture with the high-end vehicle totally wrecked.
