500 youth from Nyeri County are seeking Pope Francis' intervention in a land dispute between them and the local Nyeri Catholic Diocese which has been pending in the court.
They claim that the church grabbed a 3.627 acre piece of land belonging to their fore fathers leaving them homeless.
"We would like you to prevail upon the church to return our ancestral land taken in 1956," a report by The Standard quoted the youth.
In their petition, the youth who identify themselves as the 4th Generation, cited that the colonial government handed over their land to the Consolata Missionaries illegally.
The Pontiff is set to arrive in the country on the 25th of November and according to his initial itinerary, as soon as he touches down, Pope Francis will head to State House where he is scheduled for a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kenyan administration.
The first Latin American Pope is also expected to hold an inter-religious meeting with leaders from other denominations and lead a mass at University of Nairobi.
