Former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe on Saturday, February 29 announced the return date of the party’s Secretary-General Raphael Tuju to the country after he was airlifted to London for further treatment on Thursday, February 20.

In the Live broadcasted event, Murathe stated that Tuju was already in good shape and he would be back to steer the ruling party.

“Our Party’s Secretary-General Raphael Tuju is in London and he will be back on Wednesday next week. Tuju is already well now and is fully recovered from the injuries.

On February, 20, the Jubilee Secretary-General who also serves as a CS without portfolio was flown to the UK for specialized treatment on orders issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Through a statement by Jubilee Party Communications Director Albert Memusi, the family also agreed with the decision following consultations with specialised medics who were monitoring Tuju.

“The party is in close and constant communication with the family to monitor every progress made and will continue giving progress reports on his condition,” the statement read.

Before he was flown to the United Kingdom, the Cabinet Secretary had been recuperating at the Karen Hospital since the day of his accident.

An earlier statement by the party on February 17 announced that doctors had assured them that Tuju had full control of his limbs just as he did when he walked into the Accident and Emergency Section at AIC Kijabe Hospital after the accident.

Tuju got into the grisly accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway when his car got involved in a head-on collision with a matatu at Magina on Wednesday, February 12.

Reports indicated that the accident happened as the matatu tried going past a saloon car along the road when it hit Tuju’s vehicle.

On the fateful day of the accident, Tuju was on his way to the burial of former President Daniel Arap Moi in Nakuru county.

After the accident, he was rushed to the AIC Kijabe hospital in Kiambu county where he first received treatment.
