Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Rise to 110 [VIDEO]

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday, April 2, announced that 29 new people had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 110.

Speaking outside Afya House in a daily Covid-19 press briefing, CS Kagwe also revealed that 2 patients had succumbed to the disease.

"I am saddened to announce that we have lost two Covid-19 patients, which brings the number of deaths from the virus in Kenya to three. One in Nairobi and another in Mombasa " he stated.

The Health CS went on to announce that the ministry had hit a new record of 662 tests in 24 hours, resulting in the confirmed cases.

Twenty three of the new cases were detected in the designated quarantine facilities, while six were from suspected cases in isolation units, he further disclosed, adding that the ages of the new cases ranged from 16 to 64.

"The situation in Kenya is not getting any better. It is not a joke, you don't have to wait to hear of the death of someone you know to believe the virus is real. This is a very serious threat to our lives & to our nation, the numbers will rise,

"Fellow Kenyans, I do not want to scare you, but with the figures I have just read to you, the number is likely to rise and rise exponentially," he warned.

Following the results, the CS announced that the national government was going to enforce stiffer measures as it fought to try and contain the pandemic

"We are discouraging mass movement of people. You are highly discouraged not to move from your current location to the village, especially the people residing in Nairobi County," he decreed.

CS Kagwe also informed the public that Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi, had made a full recovery, adding that he would now be prosecuted for exposing Kenyans to the deadly Covid-19.

He then went on to order that all public transport users in the country wear face masks to curb the spread of coronavirus.

"All tuk tuk and matatu drivers should wear a mask. We have begun local production of the facemasks which will be distributed through counties ad association chairpersons," the Health CS stated.
