State House Kenya, through its choir, has released a catchy Covid-19 song aimed at sensitising Kenyans on how to best protect themselves from the pandemic.
The video features a speech by President Uhuru Kenyatta in which he urges Kenyans to observe government directives to overcome the outbreak.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mark Adwar, State House Choir Assistant Master and the creator of the song, disclosed that the choir was inspired by the need to assert the required measures citizens need to observe to curb the spread of the virus.
He further noted that the choir had released three Covid-19 songs with varying messages aimed at helping Kenyans stay safe and that they were approved by the president himself.
"That is actually my song. It is all about sensitising Kenyans in following what the Ministry of Health has recommended without which the disease will overwhelm us. The first lesson is to take care of ourselves and our neighbours.
"Everything we do, Uhuru has to give approval. We asked for it and he gave the approval and that is why it was uploaded there," he stated.
Regarding the lack of a Youtube page for the choir, he noted that they could not go ahead and create one because it has to pass through the concerned department.
"State House has a particular department charged with creating the YouTube channels and at this particular time, we did not have time to follow up for that so we requested to have the songs posted through one of our members' YouTube channel which was allowed.
"We are working to have our own channel. The song was recorded about a week ago," he added.
The video features dancers as well as other Kenyans going about their daily activities while trying to incorporate the directive issued by the government.
Some people are seen washing hands and spraying markets as well as wearing masks to curb its spread.
"Wash your hands and sanitise, avoid crowds and social distance, walk alone and do not shake hands. Stay at home and avoid Corona," goes a section of the catchy hook of the song.
