Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has re-appointed Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's arch-rival as he made more changes in the Nairobi County Assembly.

In a notice dated Thursday, April 16, Tuju recalled Matopeni ward representative Abdi Guyo to the Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader position.

Guyo was relieved of his duties in November 2019, when Sonko wrote to Tuju and President Uhuru Kenyatta expressing frustrations in executing his duties due to wrangles in the county assembly.

The Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi (L) and ousted Majority Leader Abdi Guyo (R) held meetings aimed at ousting the governor on January 7, 2020.

Sonko recommended a number of leaders' dismissals so that he could work better, a request that was fulfilled on Tuesday, November 12, when Abdi Guyo got demoted and was replaced with Dandora III MCA Charles Thuo.

Guyo would, later on, make fresh graft allegations against Sonko on Radio Maisha on Thursday, November 14, 2019, claiming that he would present the dossier to the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.

"The governor portrays himself as one who is against corruption while calling other people the cartels.

"There was a time that all we would see on TV was the governor visiting construction sites and halting the process but if you clearly check, not a single house has been brought down since then. Why haven't the houses been brought down?" Guyo wondered

In his notice, Tuju affirmed that Thuo and others had been appointed on Standing Orders and Guyo and a new team would take over permanently.

"The leadership is expected to adhere to the well laid down communication channels at Jubilee Party and uphold tenets of house leadership set out in the Jubilee Party constitution and the laws of Kenya," an excerpt of the letter addressed to Speaker Beatrice Elachi, Clerk of Nairobi County Assembly and Governor Mike Sonko reads.

Guyo will be deputised by Peter Wanyoike. Mihang'o MCA Paul Kados will be the new Majority Chief Whip replacing nominated MCA June Ndegwa.

Kados will be deputised by South B MCA Waithera Chege.
