On Monday, April 20, several media publications announced that some Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) were forcefully dispersed using teargas canisters outside the party's headquarters located around Pangani area, Nairobi.

Some of the legislators mentioned included Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Lang'ata MP Nixon Korir and his Kikuyu Constituency counterpart Kimani Ichungwa.

However, Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kuria branded the entire story as fake news spread by 'agents of the desperate regime,' adding that he had been in parliament since the break of dawn discussing the Supplementary Budget to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The vocal legislator further revealed that he was taken aback when he saw the various headlines claiming he was being teargassed at his party's headquarters, while still in the House.

"I hear some of the other blogs have even written a whole story. I have been in parliament looking at this Covid-19 supplementary budget," he stated.

Quizzed on the progress of the supplementary budget, he revealed that they had now established that they had the necessary capacity to actually effect their plans.

"Hon Kimani Ichungwa Chair of Budget & Appropriations Committee and myself have been holed up in parliament since 7 am fast-tracking the Supplementary Budget to help Kenya fight the Corona Virus,

In the meantime the agents of this desperate regime spreading useless propaganda that we have been chased from Jubilee HQs. Like Nehemiah decided to ignore Sanbalatt and Tobias, we will continue to build the wall to save Kenyans," he went on to share on his official Facebook account just moments after the news broke.

According to the various publications, the group allied to Deputy President DP William Ruto had allegedly made its way to the party's headquarters to protest the ongoing tussle between some of the party officials over the control.

On April 15, Kuria issued a statement highlighting a blunder by Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, that sparked the current wrangles in the ruling party.

"By her own admission, the Registrar of Political Parties filed a gazette notice to change officials without any minutes of any NEC Meeting.

For the avoidance of doubt, only the Party Leader can convene a  National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. Hapa naona Tuju alimseti an innocent lady (it looks like Tuju fixed the innocent lady)," he stated in reference to the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu.
