Moha Jicho Pevu Impressively Reads Bulletin in Special Radio Broadcast [VIDEO]

Once a celebrated Journalist, Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali AKA Moha Jicho Pevu shared some insights into his journalistic work before joining politics in 2017. 

Mohammed Ali who resigned from KTN News in 2016, talked to his constituents over his vision and went ahead to make some interesting revelation on his professional journey, from journalism to politics.    

During an interview on Radio Salaam based in Mombasa, the vocal politician read out a bulletin in fluent Swahili proving that he could still engage in the journalism trade.

Poised and calm, Ali read out a news item about the government and counties' preparedness to tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

"Serikali kuu imeanza zoezi ya kutembea kaunti had kaunti ili kutathmini jinsi serikali hizo zilivyojipanga katika kukabiliana na virusi vya Corona.

"Akizungumza katika kaunti ya Machakos, Waziri wa Afya Mutahi Kagwe amesema serikali itashirikiana na serikali za kaunti katika kuimarisha huduma za afya haswa katika kupambana na jangwa la korona nchini.

(Which loosely translates to: The Government has commenced on an exercise to evaluate the level of preparedness in the county level in regards to measures to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic. Speaking in Machakos, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the government would collaborate with the county governments to improve health services especially in dealing with Covid-19 cases)" he stated as he read two other news items before signing off with his name. 

Posting the video on his social media, the journalists turned legislator stated that since he had perfected the craft, he couldn't forget it.

"Ng’ombe hazeeki maini. Once a journalist always a journalist," he stated.

During his time at KTN, he was once part of the most dynamic and daring investigative journalist's duo alongside John Allan Namu. Ali was renowned for his investigative series Jicho Pevu on KTN.

The two brought to light numerous cases touching on extra-judicial killings, corruption and terrorism that often led to direct threats made against their lives as well as their families.

In 2017, he left the station and plunged into politics by vying for the Nyali parliamentary seat. He initially planned to run for office on an ODM ticket but lost the nominations. He, however, won the seat as an independent candidate.

In 2019, Ali teased a comeback to TV with a new show that was set to air on TV47. The show has however not aired since the announcement.
