"Even as we push for non-motorised transport infrastructure, let us be considerate of other road users," Kitili posted on Instagram.

The anchor affirmed that he had healed and was back to cycling.

He shared a map that detailed he cycled for 50.8 kilometres in 2 hours 56 minutes.

On Wednesday, June 3, his colleague Michael Gitonga almost got involved in an accident too while cycling along Ngong Road.

Gitonga nearly ran over a pedestrian while enjoying the Nairobi Metropolitan road projects which are expanding the highway to include a cycling lane that accommodates bicycles.

The World Bicycle Day was celebrated on June 3, as Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) lauded the Nairobi Metropolitan Services for implementing the Nairobi Mobility plan.

The plan included dedicating 20% of Nairobi's road construction budget to build Non-Motorized Transport (NMT).

According to the World Bank, 70% of Kenyans walk or take matatus to work meaning seven out of 10 people in Nairobi walk or take a matatu to work.

However, many people shy away from walking or using bikes for fear of risking their safety. According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the number of pedestrian deaths increased by 20%.

A total of 458 pedestrians as at February 2020 lost their lives compared to 417 who died in February 2019.
