Differences between Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and Woman Representative Kawira Mwangaza seem to be escalating as the former accused the female legislator of defaming his image for political mileage.
In a strongly-worded response, the county head affirmed that he had no apologies to make for a weekend incident that saw the legislator and her husband Baicu Murega roughed up by county officials.
“Kawira is a drama queen; what we are dealing with is not a case of oppression of a simple village woman of God and the Bishop of the poor but a ruthless, cunning, political hypocrite, a drama queen and a master of deceit who is manipulating the media and locals to be bitter against me when I am innocent,” the governor was quoted by The People Daily.
Governor Kiraitu further stated that he would be moving to court to sue Kawira for tainting his image via a local station, Baite TV which she runs with her husband.

He further urged the female legislator who'd publicly expressed interest in the gubernatorial seat in 2022 to wait for her turn.
The Woman representative on her part maintained that the raid on her premises was politically motivated while the governor maintained that they had been flouting county revenue laws by failing to pay tax amounting to Ksh509,000.
At the same time, Meru Revenue County boss John Ntoiti issued a seven-day ultimatum for Baite TV station to clear the tax arrears or have their license revoked.
She stated that the tax evasion claims were the governor's efforts to fight her bid for his post.
In March, 2020, Kawira publicly declared her interests to unseat Kiraitu decrying the slow rate of development in the county.
"He no longer has touch with the grassroots and that is why he is clinging onto BBI seeking to be helped by the system. He has nothing to tell the people with regard to 2022," she claimed.
The legislator has used the local TV station to highlight issues including a March feature of demonstrations by owners of private cars who were barred from ferrying passengers in Meru Town.
The clip is alleged to have been the cause of a death threat against the Woman rep with a senior county administrator recorded threatening to teach Kawira a lesson.
