A Citizen TV journalist is the most recent victim of what seems to be an increase of robbery incidents across the country since President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the dusk to dawn curfew.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the reporter, Martin Kosgey, who is based in Kericho, disclosed that he woke up on Tuesday morning to find his window open and TV equipment missing.

He suspects he was drugged during the incident by the thugs who also broke into his car which had been parked outside the house.

The missing equipment included a camera, laptops, bags, camera battery accessories and a Live U, some of which belonged to the broadcaster.

"I think there is a drug those thugs use to keep their victims asleep because when I woke up, I found the window open and my Live U missing.

"At the car, they attempted to tamper with the starter but it was not successful. They took cameras and bags that were in the car," stated Kosgey.

He further noted that investigations are underway on the matter and that with the help of the police, he managed to recover some of the equipment.

"I reported the incident to the police. Officer heads in the county including Police Commander and OCPDs came to the scene.

"We recovered the Live U which was recovered using a tracker. It had been abandoned by the roadside together with the camera. Laptops and battery accessories are still missing," he added.

Luckily, he was not harmed in the incident.

Assaults against journalists have been on the rise with a recent case involving Frank Otieno, a senior reporter at KTN News, who lost his car on May 31, and KTN reporter Franklin Wallah who was mugged outside Kariobangi Police Station on May 9.

Otieno was carjacked at gunpoint with gun-wielding thugs, one on the driver's seat and the other on the co-drivers in Mlolongo.

Wallah, on the other hand, was robbed by a group of boys on a motorbike along Outering /Kangundo Road junction in an incident that saw him part with his mobile phone.
