Former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi has scaled up his lobbying in the journey to establish himself as the country’s next president.
On Wednesday, June 10, Mudavadi attracted the attention of 19 European Union ambassadors who called him for a virtual meeting.
According to his verified Facebook page, the meeting was hosted by EU Ambassador to Kenya Simon Mordue.
“I had a productive virtual meeting with 19 European Union Ambassadors hosted by EU Ambassador to Kenya Simon Mordue. We deliberated on a number of issues on the current developments in Kenya, in addition to feasible solutions to reviving & boosting the Kenyan economy,” he announced
The ambassador termed the ANC Party boss as an insightful and experienced leader whom they learned a lot from.
“Thank you to Honourable Mudavadi for joining a virtual meeting this morning with all EU ambassadors. We appreciated H.E.’s informed insights regarding current developments in Kenya, drawing on his many years of experience,” Ambassador Mordue thanked.
In the recent past, the former finance minister has been holding meetings with leaders as he seeks to consolidate support for his political ambitions.
Mudavadi is likely to face Deputy President William Ruto in the presidential race and both of them have had a similar upbringing when it comes to their careers.
Both were introduced into politics by the late President Daniel Arap Moi in the 1990s.
Musalia’s latest moves seem to be drawn from Moi’s lessons which he learnt while trying to launch his political career.
Following the death of his father Moses Mudavadi, he was skeptical about getting into elective politics and how he would go about consolidating support.
His solution came in the form of an invitation to state house where he got to drink from the well of the late President Moi.
“He advised that I should go back home and begin talking to the elders more robustly, and with focus and purpose,” Mudavadi narrated in his memoirs, Soaring Above The Storms Of Passion.
