Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, on Friday, July 31, expressed his discontent with the county governor Wycliffe Oparanya's cabinet reshuffle.
In a video he shared, Malala decried Oparanya's choice of ministers claiming that the youth and people living with disabilities were not represented.
He further vowed to take action against the reshuffle claiming that the governor had hired retired individuals hence contravening the law of the land.
"I am not happy with the reshuffle because when you look at the list, there is no youth neither is there a disabled person. If we don't have a disabled person, then we are going againt the constitution of Kenya.
"As a spokesperson of the youth movement, I would like to say that the governor has let down the youth of Kakamega County. What makes me mad is that Oparanya chose retired individuals," stated Malala.
He also vowed not to support Oparanya's new cabinet noting that without youth, it was imbalanced.
On Thursday, July 30, the county boss announced his cabinet reshuffle stripping Prof Phillip Kutuma of the powerful Agriculture docket.
The move came two weeks after the governor promised to make changes to his team.
He explained that some of the ministers in his cabinet had taken advantage of his absence from the county to push their own agendas.
The county's executive for Education Joseph Obonyo Indire was also dropped from his position.
The new appointee at the county was Joseph Lutomia, the new county executive for Education, while Barasa Wangwe, who served as the county executive for Water, Environment and Natural Resources was moved to head Kakamega County Micro-Finance Corporation in acting capacity.
