Suspected thieves abandoned a County bulldozer worth Ksh24 million which had gone missing in Kitui County.

Detectives traced the machinery in a private residence in Ruiru, Kiambu County after it was reported missing by county officials.

“At the moment we are crafting the preliminary investigations and soon we will zero in on the real masterminds behind the dozer theft.

“The officers supervising the grading of roads in the area, went back on August 26, 2020 to continue with the grading but found the dozer missing,” Nzioka stated.

A witness told investigators that the dozer was ferried by a private roll loader claiming that they were taking the machinery for servicing.

The bulldozer was later discovered with it's number plate removed and out of fuel.

“The person found with it, says that he bought the dozer from a county government official, where he made a deposit of Ksh150,000 and will be paying the same amount weekly,” an investigation report read in part.

In a separate incident in May 2018, Kitui CID detectives and senior county government recovered assorted hospital equipment worth millions of shillings believed to have been taken from Kitui County Referral Hospital.

Detectives  raided a private residence at Muumoni centre in the outskirts of Kitui Town where the loot was hidden.
