A section of Kisii town bodaboda operators claimed that they were not involved in preparations for the DP Ruto visit.

However, Calvin Onchienku, one of the leaders of the boda boda associations in the town, explained that they had called for the deputy president's intervention in their welfare.

"There are cartels  who have taken over the town claiming to be leaders of boda bodas but they are not. Ruto is a leader in Kenya and he has every right to listen and engage with us," he stated.

Goons allegedly brought down tents set up Nyamarambe in South Mugirango constituency, which was the venue where the Deputy President was to hold the fundraiser for the boda boda riders.

South Mugirango MP in a post alleged that Kisii Governor James Ongwae organised for youth to disrupt the event.

"Pouring sewage at the Nyamarambe stadium ahead of our function is not even disrespecting DP,but the women of South Mugirango who invited DP for a function.

"Nevertheless, sorry but that will not stop us. We will proceed as planned," he stated.
