13 Deaths as Covid-19 Cases Rise to 37,707

Kenya has recorded 218 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 37,707.

In a statement on Friday, September 25, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 5,424 samples had been tested over a period of 24 hours bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 532,729.

Of the positive cases, all are Kenyans except eight who are foreigners.

159 are male and 59 are female while the youngest case is one-year old and the oldest is aged 78.

At the same time, 170 patients were discharged, 79 from home-based care and 91 from various hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 24,504.

Regrettably, 13 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 682.

In the country distribution, Nairobi county leads with 68 cases followed by Kisii with 28, Mombasa (21), Kisumu (19), Kiambu (13), Kajiado (11), Busia (10), Machakos (8), Tharaka Nithi (6), Garissa (6), Taita Taveta (5), Nakuru (4), Uasin Gishu (3), Narok (2), Laikipia (2), Kakamega (2), Kericho (2).

Homabay, Murang'a, Bomet, Kilifi, Makueni, Migori, Nyandarua and Nyeri counties all recorded one case each.

The cases in Nairobi were reported in Starehe and Westlands with seven cases each, Lang'ata (6), Embakasi West (5), Dagoretti North, Embakasi South, Kibra, Makadara and Roysambu had four cases each.

Dagoretti South, Kasarani and Ruaraka reported three cases each with Embakasi North, Kamukunji and Matahare had two cases each.

In Kisii county, the 28 cases are from Kitutu Chache South (27) and Kitutu Chache North (1). In Mombasa, the 21 cases are from Jomvu (15), Kisauni (3), Mvita (2) and Nyali (1). 

In Kisumu, the 19 cases are from Kisumu Central and Kisumu East with eight cases each and Nyando three.
