Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o threw a star-studded birthday party on Friday, October 9 in Kisumu.
The governor will turn 75 years on Saturday, October 10.
However, he organised the party earlier on to also celebrate the refurbishment of the Kisumu Social Centre.
Among those in attendance at the party were his wife, Dorothy Nyong'o, Sports CS Amina Mohammed, Vihiga Governor Wilfred Otichilo and delegates from the French Embassy in Kenya.
"Thank you for your birthday wishes," he posted on his social media pages. His daughter Lupita Nyong'o also wished him well.
The Kisumu Social Centre, formerly known as Kisumu Social Hall, was built by the Municipal Council of Kisumu during the colonial period in Kenya. Mismanagement of the hall by prior administration led to its dilapidation.
The uplift of the Kisumu Social Centre was financed by the Kisumu County Government, the National Government, the French Government and other donors.
It was fitted with a modern auditorium, community meeting rooms, clubrooms for indoor games, office spaces, a unit for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), children's park, ablution blocks and a cafeteria.
The project cost Ksh 5 million and is located about 400 meters from the main public bus station in Kisumu City.
"Ero kamano Anyang Nyongo (Thank You/Congratulations Governor). France in Kenya is proud to have played a part in the making of this iconic social centre in Kisumu.
"We have been partners for many years and we hope we can forge this relationship even further," the French Government tweeted.
