The Head of the homicide department at the DCI Martin Nyaguto, on Thursday, November 5, faced a public beating from a crowd in Kitengela, Kajiado county, who were baying for the blood of a murder suspect.

Kennedy Ochieng, the suspect, had led police officers to a shallow grave where he had buried the body of a 45-year-old mechanic who is suspected to have been murdered in unclear circumstances.

While at the scene, the locals got wind of the suspect's whereabouts and moved towards his direction in a bid to lynch him.

However, the police whisked him away in their convoy, leaving the irked residents throwing stones their direction. It is at this juncture that Nyaguto was injured by the mob.

"They wanted to administer instant justice to the suspect. However, we thank God that our team is okay," Jeremiah Ndubai DCIO, Isinya stated.

Ochieng told the police that the deceased, Abel Okoth, was repairing his lorry when it accidentally moved and crushed him.

"The suspect we are holding is the last person who was seen with the deceased," the DCIO stated.

Police have raised questions as to why Ochieng did not immediately report the matter but instead buried the body.

"Once the postmortem is done, we shall see whether the injuries sustained are consistent with the story he is giving us," Ndabai told the media.

Though the body has already decomposed, pathologists are hopeful that they may find leads on what led to his death.

After a two-month search mission, the family expresses their gratitude to the officers for finally locating their kin's body.

"We thank God because we have finally found the body of the deceased. It has been two months of agony," Jack Miganda, the nephew to the deceased stated.
