Citizen TV news anchor Rashid Abdalla on Friday, November 6, revived a show that he last aired in 2017.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the seasoned journalist said that his inspiration to bring back the show 'Sisemi Kitu' was the need to push for change in Kenya.

The multi-talented journalist argued that Kenyans have a certain stereotype towards change and make irrational decisions without looking out for themselves.

"It's all about the attitude that you and I have. We cheer on leaders and support them to make their dreams come true. If they want numbers for elections and referendums, we give them the votes. However, we never ask ourselves about our own personal dreams and goals.

"Do they (politicians) know what we want? We need people who have better ideologies no matter the tribes. People who empower and listen to mwananchi. I am not perfect but I understand that change starts with me. If you believe it is right, join me, if not ask yourself what is right," Abdalla posed.

The anchor added that the show was about enlightening the mass and encouraging them to make personal decisions that work in ther own best interest and not in the interest of a person pushing their own agenda.

He used an example of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to urge citizens to read and understand the bill, offer their thoughts to MCAs who will vote on it in assemblies rather than cheering for leaders and following the choices of opinion leaders.

Through his social media channels, the seasoned journalist posted a segment titled 'Sisemi Kitu' where he commented on political issues.

In the segment, Abdalla also takes on everyday issues blended with Swahili metaphors presented in a calm yet impactful manner.

"In a classroom setting, one plus one equals two, but in the world of politics it can add up to eleven or zero depending on which point of view one looks through," he stated in the newly posted episode.

The anchor has on several occasions opted to start bulletins with a hard-hitting commentary on the conduct of politicians in the country especially with the Covid-19 pandemic

In September 2020, he called out a number of politicians who have been holding rallies for not adhering to social distancing measures arguing that other industries had been greatly affected as well.

"The measure of good leadership is actions, not lip service. It does not make sense to urge citizens to follow government directives on social distancing when the leaders are the first to break the rules," he stated at the time.
