Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, November 11, arrested a woman over Ksh10 million theft.

In a statement, the agencies disclosed that the suspect, identified as Linda Nyamburi Odhiambo, had allegedly solicited the funds by false pretense after promising to import cereals for the victims.

"Detectives attached to the Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) have today arrested a businesswoman over claims of swindling more than Sh10 million from traders in a dubious business of importing cereals.

"Linda Nyamburi Odhiambo is alleged to have been taking cash deposits from members of the public purporting to supply cotton seed cake, sunflower, soya beans, Pembe Millers' flour and other foodstuffs," read the statement in part.

Nyamburi, the director of Clalinx Gen Supplies Ltd, was tracked down in her house in Kiambu county.

"She purported to import the foodstuff from Malawi and Tanzania. She never delivered the goods after pocketing upfront payments.

"Detectives pounced on her at the Riara Junction Apartments in Kiambu County," continued the statement.

The directorate later urged members of the public who may have fallen victim to the suspect to report the incidents at the DCI Headquarters.

This comes a few hours after the agency published images of two suspects who are wanted for allegedly engaging in various banking fraud incidents in the city.

Images of the suspects, Gerald Gatheru Mwai and Gladys Mwara Kamau, were published in the country's leading newspapers.
