Viral internet sensation and chef Nusret Gökçe, alias Salt Bae, attracted backlash after addressing Deputy President William Ruto as the President of Kenya.

The Turkish chef posted a number of stories on his official Instagram handle after meeting Ruto during his visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In the first story, Salt Bae uploaded a photo of him and Ruto fist-bumping as they both wore black gloves and kept a reasonable distance between themselves in an attempt to maintain social distancing.

The renowned chef captioned the photo, "He's a great person and leader, I love you Kenya".

In the next story that the Chef posted on Instagram, he uploaded another photo of him and Ruto fist-bumping and captioned it with "Corona Style" however Ruto was without a mask.

His last photo, however, appeared to rub a section of Kenyans the wrong way as he uploaded a video of him and Ruto sprinkling salt on a piece of barbecued steak using his signature move as he captioned it with, "President of Kenya"

A number of Kenyans, however, claimed that the top chef was deceived that Ruto was the President of Kenya and took the chance to express their disaffection.

"Dear President Uhuru, the last time you were away in France, your Deputy William Ruto attempted a coup at the ruling Party HQ. This time, Ruto who is away in Dubai has shamelessly told Salt Bae that he is the President of Kenya," Kiigen Koech.

"Nus ret, the famous Turkish meat seller didn't finish school, that's why he refers to Ruto as President of Kenya," said Lagaless.

There were also question marks about Salt Bae's mistake of addressing Ruto as President given he had already met President Uhuru Kenyatta in September 2018.

Ruto took to social media to commend the chef after successfully managing to turn his hustle viral and urged Kenyans to emulate him.

"This evening I interacted with Hustler Salt Bae, a Turkish butcher, who has created a successful hustle out of salt, nyama and a knife.

"Mahustler wa Kenyatta, Burma, Dagoreti markets na wengine mko na compe na lessons hapo, mjipange. Kazi ni kazi, wìra ni wìra, mboka ni mboka," stated Ruto.

(All the hustlers in Kenyatta, Burma, Dagoretti and all the other markets you have competition and lessons from this. Hustle is a hustle).
