Media personality Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o gave details of his educational upbringing including a little-known fact that he was expelled from nursery school.

In a video, the Kiss FM presenter visited his former school - Lake Primary School in Homa Bay.

Disclosing that he studied in a number of schools, Jalang'o noted that finances were a challenge for his family growing up.

"I did not start here, I went to nursery school at St Paul School before I moved to Asego Hill. I switched institutions because I was expelled in nursery school," he disclosed.

The presenter noted that he later went to Lake Primary School in Class 1 and despite the financial difficulties he studied hard motivated by his parents.

His visit to his former school was a stark contrast to Eric Omondi's visit to the Lake Primary School in Kisumu in 2018 where students crowded around him chanting his name.

Jalang'o walked into an empty school, almost of a ghost town, and from the entrance, he noted that several changes had been made.

"A lot has changed. The is the school gate which was not here when I was a student. They even changed the motto from Make Better Best to Aspire to Excel," he commented.

Several structures had since been put up including new staff rooms as well as reorganisation of the classes.

"The classes were built of mud but now they are built of stone. This is an improvement," he noted.

Jalang'o even took a seat in one of the classes where he took a moment to recount his experience in the modest classes.

Being a scout during his days in school, the radio presenter went to the flagpost and re-enacted how he would march before hoisting the flag.

He further observed that the school had put up more toilet structures as well as an ECDE centre.

Despite performing well in KCPE, Jalang'o would not go on to pursue his secondary education at Maseno School where he was selected to study as he got there two weeks late.

The delay was because his father had been raising funds for his school fees, but when he got there, his slot had already been taken by another student.

Jalang'o observed that his humble beginnings made him aspire to become more in life and he attributed his success to his background.
