A taxi driver was on December 29 found dead in a passenger's home, in Kabete, Kiambu county.
Police investigating the matter believe the driver was killed in the client's home where his body was found.
Neighbours claimed to have heard noises from the man's house and informed the police.
According to an eyewitness, the suspect tried to get away with the vehicle but it failed to start.
The police have launched a manhunt for the suspect while the body of the taxi driver has been moved to a nearby mortuary.
"We have been told the suspect has lived in the house for three months, so we want to find him for questioning on the matter," an officer explained.
In a separate incident earlier in December 2020, a taxi driver based in Kiambu who had been missing for a week was found dead in mysterious circumstances.
The family of the man identified as Peter Gitau Mburu, 38, reported that they last communicated with the deceased on December 8, 2020, when he was transporting some clients to Nyahururu.
They were, however, unable to reach him the following day and reported the matter to the police.
A post mortem conducted on the body revealed that the deceased had been hit three times on the head using a blunt object.
Cases of taxi drivers being abducted, murdered or hijacked have been in the spotlight.
In May 2020, a taxi driver went missing and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers arrested seven suspects in the case in relation to the case.
