A former student leader at Moi University is pleading for financial assistance after losing three family members in less than six months.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Pacificah Mariita asked for help to clear a hospital bill which was accrued when her sister was hospitalised due to Kidney failure.

Her sister passed away on Christmas Day in a hospital in Eldoret.

"I'm here to appeal for help because we lost sister Phylis who had kidney failure since January 2019. She rested on 25th December 2020, leaving a huge bill of Ksh1 million which we have to clear before she can be buried,” she stated.

A month prior to her death, their mother Alice Mariita died on November 25. In June 2020, another sibling lost their life leaving behind four children.

"2020 has been the hardest year, the most painful for us because in 17th June 2020 we lost sister Risper Kwamboka. It was a maternal kid, both her and the kid did not survive. The same year we lost our mum who has been suffering from hypertension and diabetes for 18 years,” she stated.

She added the family had resulted in selling off property to cater for the bills and debts accrued from the medical conditions of the family.

Mariita's move to appeal and crowdfund from willing Kenyans has seen many families helped.

In 2020, a number of Kenyans were assisted when those touched by their plights came to their rescue.

In April, the plight of a widow who 'cooked' stones to bait her children into sleeping touched the hearts of many Kenyans, prompting them to come to her aid.

At the time Peninah Bahati's plight was made public, a number of well-wishers including the Kenya Red Cross paid her a visit and donated foodstuffs.

Other well-wishers also sent contributions of more than Ksh1 Million. The money was used to build Bahati a four-bedroom house, where she has since relocated with her children.
