The discussion was based on school reopening countrywide on Monday, January 4, amid Covid-19 risk.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Koinange, who turns 55, could not hold his excitement and shock as he congratulated his staff.

"Thank you so much guys...It's a day early but hey.." Koinange said.

The guests weren't left behind as they also joined in on the celebration.

"We are here to celebrate with you," Ombajo said.

Netizens took to social media to wish the charismatic presenter a happy birthday.

"Happy Birthday Jeff Koinange, the journey you've gone through always makes us believe, trust and work towards what we've set our minds to achieve.

“Always jovial, the man who got people in his heart. Live long Jeff. May this day bring you joy and happiness. Happy birthday to our captain Jeff Koinange," a section of the comments read.

Recently, Koinange accompanied by friends surprised his former media boss Rose Kimotho in an appreciation banquet.

The surprise ceremony was meant to congratulate Kimotho for her trailblazing work in the Kenyan media industry.

Koinange also shares birthdays with Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga who turns 76, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, and former Citizen TV news anchor Julie Gichuru.
