Former NTV news anchor Debarl Inea has made a comeback to the TV screens after landing a new job at K24.

According to multiple sources at the station who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, Debarl was hired to replace Anne Kiguta.

Kiguta resigned after a fundamental disagreement on the editorial processes at the station.

One of his duties at the Mediamax-owned station will be to host Punchline Show which airs on Sunday evenings.

When reached for comment, the news anchor did not respond to the enquiry.

Debarl is a skilled show host, news anchor and interviewer who knows how to manage conversations and debate between newsmakers and politicians.

His exit from NTV in July 2020 caught political pundits and fans by surprise as they sent messages of encouragement.

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi stated that he was disappointed to learn about the news anchor’s exit.

“The world is a place where men and women live. They each have their own entry & exit. It shall be well Debarl,” former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale expressed.

Before joining K24, it was reported that the journalist had declined a position at Standard Media Group late in 2020.

“The Standard Media Management was considering him as a news editor but the journalist wanted to go on air. Given his experience and skills, I would understand why he turned it down,” a source aware of the situation revealed.

Efforts to speak with the news anchor were futile as he explained that he would only consider interviews from the coming year.
