A bartender was charged in court for reportedly spiking his employer's drink and robbing his property at a club in Kilimani, Nairobi.

28-year-old Muasya Kirere was accused of conspiring with other suspects to lace his boss' drink on Thursday, January 21.

The court heard that Kirere allegedly stole Ksh 120,000 cash and a gold chain worth Ksh 180,000.

He was also charged with robbing two other guests who were partying at the club on the same day.

The two patrons reported that they lost Ksh 2,000 cash, surgical spectacles worth Ksh 15,000 and a mobile phone worth Ksh 24,990.

Kirere was accused of using three young women to entertain his employer and two of his guests. The women diverted their attention before orchestrating the plot.

The women reportedly arrived when the employer was closing his business and preparing to head home. The ordered drinks and then requested to spend some time in a separate room.

The employer and the two other victims fell for the plot and spent some time drinking and partying with the suspects.

On the next morning, they woke up and found out that they had been robbed cash and other valuables.

The case was reported at Kilimani Police Station. Detectives, later on, arrested the bartender and launched a manhunt for his accomplices.

Kirere was released on Ksh 200,000 cash bail or Ksh 300,000 bond.
